I always wonder why Malaysia allows only 60 days maternity leaves for female employee while others country is providing 90 days. As told by a friend, UK even provides 180 days ML for the female employee. For a new mummy, 60 days will not be enough for her to cope with the new born child. Moreover, it is even worst if she is a single mother. So many things to learn, to take care of in such a short period..... that is why most women has post-natal blue!!!
I experienced it when i saw my friend who had her first baby.... she has to prolong her leaves in order to take care of the baby and some of them even have to quit the job just to take care of baby. Can you imagine women nowadays need to carry out not only as a worker but a wife, a mother to a new family…
How great would it be if a new working mummy can be given at least 90 days ML by our government?
